The Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Rochester’s Kohl’s Pedal Patrol Program will celebrate a $104,325 donation from Kohl’s Cares for Kids at the Fairport Music and Food Festival, from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. At the festival, held at Lift Bridge Lane in Fairport, bicycle safety experts will hold fun activities for kids to promote safe biking practices.

Kohl’s Pedal Patrol will use funds donated by Kohl’s Cares for Kids to provide education and awareness about safe biking throughout the Rochester-area community. Kohl’s Pedal Patrol participates in health fairs, hosts bike rodeos and implements effective bike safety-related messaging throughout the community. Kohl’s Pedal Patrol also provides bike helmets and fitting techniques to anyone in need.

Kohl’s Pedal Patrol will be a unique addition to the Fairport Music and Food Festival, which attracts thousands of local residents and families. Injury Free Coalition for Kids members will have a table set up at the event for coloring activities, as well as a carnival-style spin-the-wheel game and prize give-away and bike safety-related activities. Bike safety experts will be on hand to educate families about safe biking practices. At 12:45 p.m., the Rochester-area Kohl’s Greece manager, Jermaine Roberson, will present the Kohl’s Cares for Kids donation to Anne Brayer, M.D., program director of Injury Free Coalition for Kids and a pediatrician in Emergency Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC).

“We are so fortunate to have support from Kohl’s Cares for Kids,” said Brayer. “The program helps us educate the community on safe biking practices, to reduce of injuries for kids in the Rochester area.”
