High School Students “Perform” Surgery at URMC

Thirty-six young women selected from 16 area high schools are performing simulated surgeries Saturday at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Participants will be correcting a scoliosis deformity, fixing a broken leg, and repairing a damaged shoulder rotator cuff. Tomorrow’s event is part of The Perry Initiative, a national program seeking to inspire more women to pursue careers in orthopaedic surgery and engineering.

WHAT:  URMC Hands-On Science Program for Young Women

WHEN:  Saturday, January 12

TIME:   Hands-On Activities scheduled from 9:45 a.m. to noon, and 12:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m
