Local Restaurant Lends Support to Wilmot Cancer Center

The owner of Colie’s Café is stepping up to help the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center and the people with cancer in the Rochester and Finger Lakes region.

Colie’s Café will celebrate a holiday-inspired grand opening Friday through Sunday, Dec. 3 to 5, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Wilmot Cancer Center. Patrons can enjoy free menu samples and could win drawings for $25 gift cards. In addition, those purchasing a $25 gift card will receive a bonus of $5 added to the card.

Anyone looking for a holiday gift that can last throughout the year may want to consider a refillable travel mug from Colie’s Café’s Coffee for the Cure program, which benefits the Wilmot Cancer Center’s research programs. Customers can purchase the custom travel mug for $100 and receive free fountain drinks and coffee throughout the year.

Colie’s Café owner Michael Linehan - grandson of James P. Wilmot, who generously supported cancer research and training during his lifetime, and for whom the Cancer Center is named - created the program to support local research. He hopes to offer “grants” of $20,000 or $30,000 to help support research projects and attract talented scientists to the Wilmot Cancer Center. “It’s important to support the efforts to build the best team of experts in cancer care and research here in Rochester,” Linehan said.

Colie’s Cafés are located at the former Camille’s Sidewalk Cafe sites on Park Avenue in Rochester, Pittsford Plaza and EastView Mall.
