MyChart is Getting Supercharged with a New Look and Even Faster Results
UR Medicine is launching MyChart: Immediate Release on Oct. 11, which will give patients access to more of their health information than ever before. Instead of waiting for a call from the doctor’s office, patients who use MyChart will be able to view their test results and provider notes as soon as they are finalized.
The change is in keeping with the federal government’s 21st Century Cures Act, which calls upon all health systems to expand on the health information that is instantly accessible to patients through online portals like MyChart.
Now, doctors and patients will have access to the same test results and visit notes at the same time. Quicker access to more information allows patients to take a more active role in their health care.
Sometimes patients may prefer to hear important test results from their doctor. When a provider orders a test, the patient can request that the result or image not be sent to MyChart until after the provider has had a chance to speak with the patient.
“Access to their health information empowers patients to more fully engage in managing their own health,” said Michael Apostolakos, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Strong and Highland Hospitals. “We’re making it easier for patients to see and understand their health information so they can make more informed decisions in partnership with their provider.”
Not only will MyChart provide faster access to health data; the online patient portal and matching smartphone app are also getting a makeover. Improved search and navigation will make it even easier for patients to find the information they’re looking for.
There has never been a better time to sign up for MyChart. To get instant access to most test results and visit notes, please visit mychart.urmedicine.org.
