Nationally Renowned Women’s Health Expert Speaking at U of R

A nationally recognized expert on women’s sexual health, Hilda Hutcherson, M.D. is speaking at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD) on Friday, January 31. Hutcherson’s lecture, Good Girls Don’t, will address sexual health disparities in communities of color. It will be followed by a book signing and reception. The event is open to U of R faculty, staff, residents, fellows and students. Registration is required.
Hutcherson is a former sexual health columnist for Essence, Glamour and Redbook magazines. She has written several books, and makes frequent national media appearances. As associate dean for Diversity and Minority Affairs at Columbia University, Hutcherson is also well-regarded for her work to increase diversity in academic medicine. She is professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia.
Hutcherson’s upcoming address is the 2014 Tana Grady-Weliky, M.D. Lecture on Women and Diversity in Medicine, sponsored by the SMD Office for Diversity. The lecture was established in 2011 to honor the late Grady-Weliky, former senior associate dean for Education at SMD. Grady-Weliky was a nationally recognized expert in medical student education and in the treatment of women’s mental health disorders.
“I am really excited Dr. Hutcherson is delivering this address. She exemplifies many of the qualities that made Dr. Grady-Weliky so loved and respected,” says Linda Chaudron, M.D, senior associate dean for Diversity at SMD.
