Oct. 28 Talk on Preventing Falls, Broken Bones for People with Breast Cancer

Oct. 14, 2010

A rehabilitation expert from Visiting Nurse Service will offer tips for preventing injuries from falling during the Thursday, Oct. 28, meeting of Advanced Insights-Metastatic Breast Cancer Support Group for men and women with advanced breast cancer, at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center. The talk will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Susan Pucko, P.T., rehabilitation clinical team manager for Visiting Nurse Service, will lead the discussion. She’ll offer tips for preventing falls and strengthening exercises.

Women with breast cancer are at high risk of rapid bone deterioration from the chemotherapy treatments, which contributes to the potential for injuring themselves in an accidental fall.

Advanced Insights meets the last Thursday of each month at the Wilmot Cancer Center, the leader in cancer care and research in the Rochester and Finger Lakes region.
