The inaugural Organ Donor Enrollment Day is an effort intended to enroll more New York residents in the NYS Donate Life Registry. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has proclaimed Oct. 6, 2015, as Organ Donor Enrollment Day in New York.

Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network, part of the University of Rochester Medical Center, is promoting the message of organ donation throughout the day, including a force of volunteers who will distribute posters and organ donor enrollment cards throughout the Finger Lakes, Central New York and Northern New York regions, and spreading the message via social media on Facebook and through the use of the hashtag #‎PassLifeOn.

Additionally, the Rochester community is invited to stop by College Town on Mt. Hope Avenue between 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday to talk with Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network staff, donor family members and transplant recipients, who can share why signing up for the NYS Donate Life Registry is so important.

FLDRN staff members and volunteers also will be delivering posters and information to businesses in the College Town neighborhood.
