School of Nursing Opens Entrepreneurship Lecture Series

The University of Rochester School of Nursing presents the first in a series of Entrepreneurship Lectures from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, in the Loretta C. Ford Education Wing Auditorium in Helen Wood Hall, 601 Elmwood Ave.

“Fundamentals of Intellectual Property” will teach attendees how to identify different types of intellectual property, describe intellectual property opportunities in nursing practice, research and education, and discuss University of Rochester regulations regarding intellectual property.

“Intellectual property is one of the many products of discovery and imagination,” said Kathy P. Parker,Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N., dean of the School of Nursing. “There are many faculty who might find they have developed significant intellectual property. Increasing awareness of this topic increases the options for dissemination of their work.”

Panelists include Corine Farewell, D.V.M., M.B.A., deputy director of the University of Rochester’s Office of Technology Transfer; J.E. Fahner-Vihtelic, deputy director and associate director for Physical Sciences, the University’s Office of Technology Transfer; and Martin Schiavenato, Ph.D., R.N., assistant professor, University of Rochester School of Nursing.
