Sip, Savor & Support Funds Daily Comforts at Harbor House
A beer- and wine-tasting on Saturday, Sept. 13, will provide day-by-day support for Harbor House, a comforting home for families of patients undergoing organ transplant or critical care. The Sip, Savor and Support Harbor House event is 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Doubletree Inn.
Organizers hope people will “adopt” a day or week to help cover the cost of the home throughout 2015.
“We hope people select days that are important to them, or in honor or memory of loved ones and help our guests who need the support today,” said Joan Malley, manager of the home, located within walking distance of UR Medicine’s Strong Memorial Hospital.
The tasting event includes a silent auction, including tickets to the Oct. 12 Buffalo Bills game against the New England Patriots, golfing at Oak Hill and Monroe country clubs, a staycation family fun pack, treasures from Cornell’s Jewelers and Mackenzie-Child and many pieces of artwork.
Harbor House of Rochester opened in 2008 as a home-away-from-home for out-of-town patients and their families who come to University of Rochester Medical Center for heart transplant or other critical care. The event raises funds to keep the house open and affordable.
