Support Group Forming to Help Women with PCOS

Strong Fertility Center will launch a support group for women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the Womenâs Health Pavilion, 500 Red Creek Drive, Rochester.
PCOS is a hormonal imbalance which affects up to 10 percent of women, creating problems with their menstrual cycle and often contributing to infertility. In women with PCOS, hormone problems prevent ovulation, resulting in irregular or absent periods. The condition can impact a womanâs overall health and appearance.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist Beth Cerrito, Ph.D., will lead the support group, assisting participants in coping with PCOS and learning how healthy eating and exercise may improve symptoms. Cerrito has extensive experience providing consultation, psychological assessment, and psychotherapy, with special interest in infertility, pregnancy loss, and PCOS management.
