Symposium Will Address Advances and Coordination in Stroke Care

 Providers from across the region will gather later this month for UR Medicine’s 5th annual Stroke Treatment Alliance of Rochester – Western New York (STAR-WNY) Stroke Management Symposium.  The meeting will highlight emerging technologies, surgical advances, and the optimal coordination of care for stroke victims.

The STAR-WNY symposium will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the Hyatt Regency in Rochester.  The event is designed to help local and regional providers improve stroke care by eliminating unwarranted variations in treatments and improving collaboration between institutions in the care for patients with cerebrovascular diseases. 

The event is designed for primary care physicians, internists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, emergency physicians, family physicians, radiologists, cardiologists, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, EMS personnel and other providers who care for stroke patients.

Symposium topics include telehealth/ telestroke, advances in endovascular care, regional care coordination, risk management, and neuro-critical care.   The sessions will be led by neurologists and neurosurgeons from UR Medicine, with guest speakers from Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Cayuga Medical Center, University Hospitals Case Medical Center, and Geisinger Medical Center.
