Talk on Acupuncture for Head, Neck Cancers June 3 at Wilmot

May. 25, 2010

People with oral, head and neck cancers can learn more about the use of acupuncture for managing side effects during a discussion at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

Jacob Wilcox, licensed acupuncturist, will lead the discussion and answer questions during the meeting of the Oral, Head and Neck Connection support group. The meeting will be in the Luellen Patient and Family Resource Center.

Head and neck cancers account for approximately 3 to 5 percent of all cancers in the country, affecting about 40,000 people each year. These cancers are more common in men and in people over age 50. The Wilmot Cancer Center has the region’s largest multidisciplinary team of head and neck cancer specialists.
