Talk on Herbs, Supplements During Care June 8 at Wilmot Cancer Center

People with cancer can learn about the use of herbs and supplements during a talk at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

The free session will be led by pharmacist John Loughner, Pharm.D., will review recent studies on vitamins for treatment or prevention of cancers. He will also offer a pharmacist’s view of the use of herbs in medicine. Loughner is a clinical pharmacy specialist in the Wilmot Cancer Center and was previously the supervisor for the oncology pharmacy at Strong Memorial Hospital.
The event is part of a monthly integrative oncology lecture series for patients who want to learn more about improving their quality of life during cancer care and survival. To register for the event, call (585) 276-5432.
 
The lecture series is held on the third Tuesday of each month, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and open to the public. Future discussions will focus on meditation, palliative care, massage therapy and yoga.
