The Raytec Group’s Carnival of Caring Helps Local Children

The Raytec Group will hold its sixth annual Carnival of Caring event between Monday, Aug. 23, and Friday, Aug. 27, to benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center. The week-long carnival is open to the more than 200 employees from Gorbel and its sister company, Retrotech.
“We were worried that with the economic hardships people are facing, they wouldn’t want to participate in the carnival, but we were dead wrong,” said Kaleigh Simmons, of Gorbel, Inc. “A lot of our employees and their families have special ties to Golisano Children’s Hospital, and it shows when it comes time for the carnival.”
Throughout the week, the two companies will hold a variety of fun events, including a “Minute to Win It” pentathlon (modeled after the popular NBC show), an Iron Chef-style cook-off with a mystery ingredient, a full-service pancake breakfast hosted by the IT department and water dodge ball – a carnival favorite. On top of that, employees will hold smaller fundraising ventures throughout the week, including selling t-shirts and holding a raffle and a silent auction. The week of fun will culminate with a company luncheon on Friday and an awards ceremony.
