Treat Yourself to Golisano Children’s Hospital’s Masquerade Gala
Golisano Children’s Hospital’s 23rd annual Gala will be veiled in mystery on the eve of Halloween. The black-tie, masquerade-themed event will keep guests blissfully busy with a live and silent auction, exquisite food and libation and live entertainment. There are no tricks attached to this special occasion, which will begin with cocktail hour at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
This year, honorary chairs Wayne and Beverly LeChase, are aiming high, with hopes to trump last year’s record-breaking fundraising total of $700,000. The Gala, which is sponsored this year by the Cabot Group, is Golisano Children’s Hospital’s biggest fundraiser of the year. This year’s fund-in-need will benefit the Pediatric Surgery Division at Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
“Each year, more than 30,000 children come to Golisano Children’s Hospital for surgical procedures,” said Walter Pegoli, M.D., chair of Golisano Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Surgery Division. “We want to treat them with the best care possible. We have the talent to make it happen; now we’re working on upgrading the equipment.”
The division welcomed two new pediatric surgeons this year, Yi-Horng Lee, M.D., and Christopher Gitzelmann, M.D. The Gala will focus on raising funds for new anesthesia machines in the operating rooms, which will be a great help to the new pediatric surgical teams. The state-of-the-art machines have a special ventilator that does a better, gentler job assisting babies and children with breathing during procedures.
