Universal masking is in effect at UR Medicine patient care areas. Any individual within a patient care facility is expected to wear a mask; if you arrive without a mask you will be given one. We recognize that masking can be uncomfortable for patients who are in the hospital, so we are only masking inpatients who have a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19.

This is the latest of several actions UR Medicine has taken in recent weeks to slow the spread of novel coronavirus. Universal masking is a preventative strategy to keep patients and support persons, as well as health care workers and other frontline staff safe and slow the increase in COVID-19 cases.
