UR Medicine Opens 2 New Urgent Care Centers

Oct. 1, 2015

UR Medicine celebrated the opening of two new urgent care centers today, in Pittsford and Henrietta.

UR Medicine announced in July that it was acquiring two local AccelCare urgent care centers. The new centers join UR Medicine’s Strong Urgent Care in Spencerport and Thompson Health Urgent Care in Farmington. The goal is to provide patients convenient and affordable health care choices with high-quality care backed by the trusted UR Medicine system.

The new sites are located at 1300 Jefferson Road, Henrietta, and 3400 Monroe Ave., Pittsford. They are staffed by a mix of UR Medicine employees and former AccelCare staff. They are open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.

Urgent care is designed to support, not replace, the care patients receive from their personal primary care physicians and pediatricians, and patients are advised to check with their physicians before seeking care. There is growing consumer demand for urgent care because it is often more accessible than an ED or PCPs during off-hours, with urgent care hours running from morning until late evening, seven days a week, 365 days a year. UR Medicine is developing urgent care centers linked electronically to its electronic medical record system so that staff can easily communicate with PCPs and pediatricians, maintaining continuity of care.

Additional acquisitions of area urgent care centers are possible as UR Medicine continues to expand access for patients.

UR Medicine is the University of Rochester’s health care system. It includes Strong Memorial Hospital and its inpatient and outpatient components, such as Golisano Children’s Hospital, Wilmot Cancer Institute, and Flaum Eye Institute, the University of Rochester Medical Faculty Group, Highland Hospital, Thompson Health, Eastman Dental, The Highlands at Brighton, The Highlands Living Center, Visiting Nurse Service, and a range of clinical programs serving patients across western New York.
