Elizabeth Carreno RijoThird Year Fellow

Elizabeth Carreño Rijo, M.D.

Elizabeth was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and received her medical degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM). Following medical school, she spent a year working on humanitarian projects in Corazones Unidos, a clinic in the Dominican Republic, providing medical care for impoverished children with special care needs. She completed her pediatric residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx, NY. During residency, she received an Outstanding Abstract Award at the Endocrinology Society Meeting, as well as published a case presentation in Pediatrics in Review. After completing residency in 2011, she joined Pediatrics 2000, a clinic in a federally underserved area in Manhattan, before starting her fellowship at the University of Rochester in 2016. Her areas of interest include adolescent medicine and development. Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Mai tran ngocThird Year Fellow

Mai-Anh Tran Ngoc, D.O.

Mai was born in Montreal, QC, but lived in Texas most of her life. She graduated from UT San Antonio with a BS in biology with a minor in Foreign Languages, and received her medical degree from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. She is interested in adolescent reproductive health, as well as LGBTQIA care. Outside of work, she enjoys watching hockey (and hopes to maybe play one day), reading, listening to music, crocheting, cooking/eating, traveling, and practicing yoga. She is in love with the verdure of Rochester, which may finally awaken the outdoors explorer within her.

Melissa DundasSecond Year Fellow

Melissa Dundas, M.D.

Dr. Dundas was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada, where she attended the University of Ottawa and obtained her Bachelor of Science with Honors with a Specialization in Biochemistry and Minor in Psychology. Following her career as a professionally trained dance instructor, she completed her medical degree at Medical University of the Americas in Nevis, West Indies. She completed her pediatric residency training at Staten Island University Hospital in New York City, where she held advocacy roles on both the resident wellness and annual program review committees.  Her research areas of interest include reproductive and global adolescent health. As an avid traveler and food consumer, she enjoys meeting new individuals from all corners of the world, cooking (but not dishes), dancing, yoga, sunsets, and wandering aimlessly in botanical gardens.

Nicole CifraFirst Year Fellow

Nicole Cifra Gancayco, M.D., M.P.H.

Nicole was born and raised in Syracuse, NY. She attended Grove City College for her Bachelor or Science in Molecular Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. She received an MD from Upstate Medical University as well as an MPH through a combined program with the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. She completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Rochester, graduating with distinction in research. Her main area of interest is eating disorders, and she currently serves on the Medical Care Standards Committee of the Academy for Eating Disorders. She received multiple awards for her involvement in eating disorder advocacy including a United States Public Health Service award and an Edie Moore Scholarship from the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys the outdoors, traveling and spending time with her family, friends and animals. She creates visual art and plays viola and violin with several groups in the Rochester community.
