Department Conferences & Meetings

The Department of Pediatrics hosts a variety of conferences and meetings that enhance clinical and research training, meet ABP and ACGME requirements, and give our fellows an opportunity to interact with well-established clinicians and researchers, both internal and external to URMC.

Inpatient Adolescent Attending Rounds

Daily, when on inpatient service

Faculty and fellows perform patient and family centered rounding with the resident inpatient subspecialty team each morning.

Inpatient Adolescent Eating Disorder Conference

Weekly, when on inpatient service

This multidisciplinary team reviews all inpatient eating disorder patients’ history, management and progress, while also developing a comprehensive plan of care.

Fellows Seminar “Research in Child/Adolescent Health”

Weekly

This seminar integrates principles of research design and methods, educational methods and scholarship, and academic career development for medical and allied health professionals pursuing academic careers focused on children, youth, and families.

Adolescent Medicine Journal Club

Monthly

Faculty and fellows present a recent article from the adolescent medicine literature to review together monthly. The third year fellow helps organize the schedule for each faculty and fellow to present annually.

Adolescent Medicine Education Series (AMES)

Weekly

Fellows and faculty participate weekly in these interactive didactic sessions based on content specifications for the Adolescent Medicine Boards; URMC subspecialty faculty present topics in their areas of expertise. Each fellow is asked to present a topic of their choice annually to practice teaching and to receive feedback on teaching skills.

Child and Adolescent Research Conference (CHARM)

Monthly

CHARM brings together faculty, fellows, and staff at all levels from research assistant to principal investigator and from a broad range of disciplines, subspecialties, community organizations, and public health sciences. CHARM is an opportunity to share work and invite feedback from colleagues and peers, hear about what’s happening in community-based programs for children and youth, and learn from experts in research-related fields including biostatistics, literature and library science, grant-writing and project administration.

Adolescent Outpatient Clinic Review

Monthly

Faculty and fellows present clinically challenging outpatient cases to review and receive help.
