Moderate and Deep Sedation

Description

Learners train to provide moderate and deep sedation for NICU procedures such as beside gastroschisis reduction, PICC placement, PDA ligations and ROP laser surgeries.

University of Rochester nurses, advanced practice providers, neonatal-perinatal medicine fellows, and neonatologists

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the patient effects of performing moderate and deep sedation.
  • Identify the indications, contraindications and precautions using different medications for anesthesia and/or analgesia.
  • Outline and demonstrate the steps to prepare for and perform sedation.
