The Preventive Care Program for Children with Asthma

The Preventive Care Program for Children with Asthma is comprised of research investigators, program coordinators, project nurses, research associates, graduate students, undergraduate students, and volunteers. We are located on the third floor of the Saunders Research Building (SRB) in the Division of General Pediatrics (Pediatric Health Services Research) room 3.420.

Through our unique partnership with the Rochester city schools, primary care practices, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the University of Rochester, and the Rochester community, we focus on improving health care for children who suffer from childhood asthma. Our goal is to develop sustainable models for identifying and treating children with this all too common disease.

  A study of school-children with asthma showed evidence that simple follow-up calls to see how these children were doing increased the number of symptom-free days that they experienced.
