Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Simulations

Description

Learners participate as teams in simulated scenarios of neonatal emergencies on ECMO to develop their knowledge, patient care skills, teamwork and communication skills.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the indications for ECMO
  • Identify the signs, symptoms and differential diagnosis of a neonate with cardiopulmonary instability on ECMO
  • Identify and manage a neonate who experiences complications while on ECMO
  • Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork skills
