The Office for Faculty Development strives to provide an institutional framework that includes a broad range of activities to help renew and assist faculty in their multiple academic roles. These activities are designed to improve the knowledge and skills essential to their performance as educators, and to assist faculty members in gaining a better understanding of academic career development, mentoring, and leadership.

Next Faculty Development Workshop

Denham S. Ward, MD, PhDGuest speaker Denham S. Ward, MD, PhD, President and CEO, Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER), Emeritus Professor and Chair of Anesthesiology, Emeritus Professor of Biomedical Engineering, University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and Adjunct Professor of Aneshtesiology at the Tufts School of Medicine, will give a workshop on Expertise: What is It, and How Do I Get It? on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, from 11:00am-1:00 pm in the LeChase Assembly Hall (G-9576). At the conclusion of the workshop, the participant will be able to:

1. Explain the concepts of expertise as it applies to different disciplines.

2. Understand the role of reflective practice in developing expertise.

3. Explain the role of feedback and self-assessment in developing and teaching for expertise.
