The Volunteer Commitment

The volunteers at Highland Hospital are committed to their work, and they are highly-valued members of the hospital community. Everyday they enrich the lives of our employees, our patients and their families in countless ways.

What You Need To Know About Becoming a Volunteer

  • New York State requirements need to be met. Information regarding these requirements will be given to you at your interview.
  • Volunteers must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, after proper training.
  • Volunteers must be comfortable around patients, visitors, and family members in an acute-care facility and must be empathetic to their situations.
  • Volunteers need to be clear communicators and speak fluent English.
  • Shifts may vary depending on the type of volunteer position you choose. We offer morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend placements.
