Welcome to the Center for Chest Wall Reconstruction

Our Chest Wall Program at Golisano Children's Hospital specializes in the evaluation and treatment of pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum, as well as other chest wall abnormalities. We take a multidisciplinary approach to the care of your child, combining our surgical expertise with our colleagues in pediatric anesthesiology, pediatric cardiology, pediatric pulmonology, pediatric radiology, pediatric plastic surgery and specialists in physical and occupational therapy, depending on the needs of your child.

What to Expect

The journey begins with an office consultation. We will assess your child’s chest wall to determine the best course of treatment; we will determine if testing is needed to assess for a physiologic effect of the chest wall condition and ask you to realistically address your desired outcomes. We may order testing to begin the evaluation process and we will take photographs to place in the electronic chart. If surgery is determined to be the best course of action for your child, the process, from meeting our team to operative correction, may take several visits. Lastly, we will see your child regularly in follow-up to evaluate our treatment plan.
