Ashlee Smith, D.O., Named Highland Hospital Medical Director of Perioperative Services
Highland Hospital announces the appointment of Ashlee Smith, D.O., as Highland Hospital's Medical Director of Perioperative Services. Dr. Smith succeeds Alan Curle, M.D., FASA, who is stepping down after serving in the role for more than 20 years. Dr. Curle, Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, will continue to serve in a faculty position at the Center for Perioperative Medicine and as an anesthesiologist at Highland.
A Central New York native, Dr. Smith earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Lawrence University and went on to receive her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, where she also served as Chief Resident.
After completing her fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology at Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2013, Dr. Smith returned to the Department of Gynecologic Oncology at Geisinger Medical Center where she served as the OB-GYN Residency Associate Program Director and Program Director, as well as the Director of the Division of Gynecology. Dr. Smith joined the University of Rochester Medical Center in 2021. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Smith serves as the fellowship Program Director for Gynecologic Oncology.
