Dr. Maria Durdach joins Bariatric Surgery Team at Highland Hospital
Highland Hospital welcomes Maria Durdach, M.D., as Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, who will focus on Bariatric and Gastrointestinal surgeries and will also perform general surgery.
Durdach recently finished a fellowship in Bariatric Surgery at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Before her fellowship, she completed her residency in general surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center in 2022. She was the recipient of both the Resident of Year Award and the Chief Resident Teaching Award for the 2021-2022 academic year. Durdach earned her Doctor of Medicine from Pennsylvania State College of Medicine. She is especially interested in performing robotic bariatric procedures.
“Highland is fortunate to have gained such an incredibly talented surgeon for our team,” said William O’Malley, M.D., Director of Bariatric Surgery for Highland Hospital. “Dr. Durdach’s personalized approach to both bariatric and general surgery is a true benefit to her patients. The fact that she has had family members who have also undergone bariatric surgery makes her uniquely qualified to understand and empathize with our patients’ successes and concerns.”
