Highland Hospital Receives $1 Million Donation from the LeFrois Family.

Highland Hospital is receiving a $1 million donation from the LeFrois family for its private bed modernization project. The generous donation was announced Saturday at the 13th Annual Highland Hospital Gala at the Joseph A. Floreano Riverside Convention Center.
“Our family believes in Highland’s mission of serving the Rochester area with compassion and we’ve experienced their outstanding care firsthand on multiple occasions,” said Rich LeFrois, CEO of LeFrois Builders and Developers and Board Chairman for Highland Hospital. “Every patient and their family deserves to receive care in a private room, which is why we felt it was important to donate to this project.”
The LeFrois family has a long history of supporting and choosing Highland Hospital for their care. From Rich’s father Russell who lived to be 92 and his wife who was treated for breast cancer, to the birth of all of their grandchildren, the LeFrois family has always trusted Highland’s providers and staff with the care of their loved ones.
The private bed modernization project will transform nearly all of Highland Hospital’s patient care rooms to private. Private rooms reduce risk of hospital-acquired infections, create more space for families and visitors, and deliver the positive therapeutic impact of more privacy and less noise during treatment and recovery.
Specifically, the project is a 68,000 square feet vertical expansion of the hospital’s southeast wing that will add four floors. Three of the floors will be devoted to 60 private patient care rooms, 20 rooms for each floor. This will allow Highland to shift patients currently in semi-private rooms to private patient care rooms. The remaining floor will be used for other clinical programs.
“Rochester is fortunate to be home to the LeFrois family and Highland is lucky to have such strong supporters,” said Cindy Becker, Vice President and COO of Highland Hospital. “With the help of this donation, we will be able to launch this project and continue our tradition of providing the very best patient and family centered care to our community for generations to come.”
