Comprehensive Breast Care Center to Host Sixth Annual Breast Health Day

Free educational event focuses on healthy choices and minimizing risks

The Comprehensive Breast Care Center at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center will hold its sixth annual Breast Health Day, a free educational event for the community, Saturday, October 27, from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm. The event will be held at the University of Rochester Medical Center’s Kornberg Medical Research Building, at 415 Elmwood Avenue. There is no registration fee, and free parking and a brunch buffet are also included.

Breast Health Day has become a Wilmot Cancer Center tradition during Breast Cancer Awareness month and aims to provide participants with a wide range of resources and knowledge, the best defense against breast cancer. Throughout the morning, attendees will receive tips and facts on how to live healthier and happier lives from experts at the Comprehensive Breast Care Center.

Sessions include: “Nutrition, Exercise and Breast Cancer Risk”, presented by Joanna Lipp, MS, RD, CNSC, a Clinical Nutrition Specialist at URMC; “Breath and Meditation Interlude”, presented by Marilyn Ling, MD, associate professor of Radiation Oncology; and Environmental Factors and Breast Cancer Risk”, presented by Michelle Shayne, MD, Assistant Professor of Hematology/Oncology. The morning concludes with an open discussion and question and answer segment. Several tables will be set up to highlight community resources available to breast cancer patients and their families.
