Fall will be here before we know it but there’s still plenty of time to sit outside and partake in some goodies from one of the food carts around the Medical Center. Check out the many outdoor options you have to grab a quick bite literally right outside the Medical Center campus:
UNCLE DICKY’S HOT SPOTRun by Rick Francis, Uncle Dicky’s Hot Spot has been a URMC staple since 1995 when Rick’s father first parked his cart here. Uncle Dicky’s is a family-owned business that uses the best ingredients available and, according to Rick, they’ve got the lowest prices too!
- Location: Outside the Behavioral Health Atrium, Crittenden Blvd.
- Hours: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Accepts Credit Cards: Yes
- Rick’s Favorite Menu Item: Ribeye steak or Philly cheesesteak
- Strangest customer request: A sausage on top of a hamburger

MR. V’SIf you smell something good on Crittenden Blvd. at lunchtime, it’s probably Mr. V’s food cart. The catering company, owned by Jon Verno – Mr. V himself – serves up hot dogs, hamburgers and more, with combo deals available.

- Hours: 10:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

- Jon’s Favorite Menu Item: Back alley burger (a cheeseburger with BBQ sauce, grilled ham and bacon)

PAOLA’S BURRITO PLACEIf you’re in the mood for authentic Mexican food, Arturo Martinez can make you one of his 14 delicious menu items. He also has storefronts at 1011 Culver Rd. and 319 Exchange Blvd.

HEAVENLY HOTSIf 2:30 p.m. rolls around and you suddenly realize you forgot to eat lunch, don’t worry because Angel can still make you a delicious Puerto Rican dish after the other food carts have packed up for the day. You can even preorder by calling 348-1977.

ALEX QUICK LUNCHAlex has been serving up lunchtime staples in the same location for 14 years. If you’re a lunchtime early bird, this is definitely the spot for you!

Friends of Strong is hosting a Food Truck Rodeo on Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the patio outside the MRB Finger Lakes Coffee Roaster’s location. Tickets are $12, available at the Friends of Strong office (1-1230) until Sept. 14, and will get you a meal and beverage from one of these participating food trucks:

- Effortlessly Healthy
- Chef’s Catering Truck
The MRB Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters will have ice cream and drink specials to celebrate their 1 year anniversary. This event supports patient care initiatives and programs at Strong Memorial Hospital.
