Stroll for Strong Kids launches the children’s hospital’s Miracle Weekend, a two-day celebration of pediatric miracles and inspiring stories that concludes with a special Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) Telethon on June 2. This year’s telethon marks the 30th year News10NBC has hosted the televised fundraiser and celebration of our patients, supporters, faculty and staff.
On-site registration for the Stroll’s 5K on June 1 will begin at 7:45 a.m. and close at 8:15 a.m, with an 8:30 a.m. kick off. Walkers can register starting at 8 a.m., with a 10:30 a.m. walk time. The event will continue with entertainment until 1 p.m.
There will be activities for all ages, including musical entertainment by Jimmy C’s, photo booths, a dunk tank, face painting, carnival games, climbable construction vehicles, a magician, and much more!
Stroll participants will enjoy lunch from Subway and Zweigle’s, as well as Abbott’s delicious frozen custard.
In 2012, the Stroll was a resounding success, drawing almost 5,000 participants and raising more than $380,000 for .
“The most amazing aspect of the Stroll is the commitment of our participants,” said Michael Fahy, assistant director of community affairs. “Rain or shine, hot or cold, the families and friends in our community who have been touched by Golisano Children’s Hospital come out and support the Stroll for Strong Kids in a big way each and every year.
“Each team that participates in Stroll – and often each set of matching t-shirts – tells a story about what the hospital means to that group. In essence, we’re all coming together to help kids, one step at a time.”
