URMC and YMCA Offer Free Health Talks This Fall, Winter
The University of Rochester Medical Center and the Eastside Family YMCA continue to offer a free prevention and wellness series to the community this fall and winter. All events will be held at the Eastside Family YMCA, 1835 Fairport Nine Mile Point Road, Penfield.
- “The Power of Positive Self Talk” will feature Linda J. Potter, LCSW, Healthy Living Center at the URMC Center for Community Health. The talk is scheduled for 7 to 8 p.m. Sept. 19.
- “Fall Risk Assessment & Preventions” will feature Stephen I. Kates, M.D., and Tiffany Hilton, P.T., Ph.D., URMC Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation. Kates and Hilton will present from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Sept. 20.
- “Passport Health, International Travel Health and Intelligence,” presented by the UR School of Nursing. The talk is scheduled for 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Oct. 10.
- “Physical & Mental Exercise – Neurogenesis and Neuroplasticity” will be hosted by Feng (Vankee) Lin, R.N., Ph.D., UR School of Nursing. The event will be held from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Nov. 7.
- “Sleep 101” will feature Wilfred R. Pigeon, Ph.D., URMC Psychiatry. The event will be held from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Nov. 8.
- “Healthy Holiday Eating” will be hosted by Kimberly Povec, R.D., CDN, Healthy Living Center at the URMC Center for Community Health. The event will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Nov. 13.
- “Non-Surgical Approaches to Hip & Knee Arthritis” will be hosted by Jennifer Paul, M.D., URMC Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation. The event will be held from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Dec. 5.
