Application Process

Call for Applicants

We are currently accepting applications for a July 2026 start date for a 2-year postdoctoral research fellowship for M.D./D.O.s, Ph.D.s, PsyDs and others holding doctoral degrees in health professions.

Application Deadline: 10/15/2025

Prerequisite

A minimum of three years of postdoctoral training in a general pediatrics residency or a doctoral degree is required. An individual to be trained must be a citizen or non-citizen national of the United States or have been lawfully admitted to the U.S. for permanent residence at the time of the appointment. Non-US Citizens and individuals on temporary or student visas are not eligible.

How to Apply

  1. Application Form: Complete the 2026 AGP Fellowship Common Application (including personal statement)
  2. Letters of Recommendation: Download the Confidential Reference Report and give one to each of your 3 letter writers. This document must accompany each letter of recommendation.

Selection Criteria Includes:

  • Highly satisfactory residency performance
  • Previous research or other creative experiences that are relevant to general pediatrics, health services research, community pediatrics, or other disciplines relevant to the fellowship (e.g., child abuse, hospital medicine)
  • Applicants must be U.S. Citizens.  
  • Grant funded stipends require a 75% commitment to research. We strongly encourage applications from individuals from underrepresented groups in health services research.
  • Career goals consistent with those of our fellowship program

The program is funded by a National Research Service Award (NRSA) grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
