A native of Madison, Wisconsin, Dr. Watkins earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She completed her intern year in Madison and finished residency at the Family Medicine Residency Program in La Crosse, Wisconsin, a residency program of the Mayo Clinic. She first practiced rural medicine in a town of 3000 and enjoyed caring for farmers and working in a rural setting.

Dr. Watkins has worked for UR Medicine since 2006, first as faculty at the Family Medicine Residency Program, and currently as a physician at Canalside Family Medicine since it opened in July 2013. Her interests include newborn and pediatric care, office-based procedures, including skin procedures, joint injections, and GYN procedures such as contraceptive implants, IUDs, and colposcopy, as well as caring for Spanish speaking patients, and teaching medical students and residents. She is passionate about caring for and working with families across all ages.

She and her husband have 2 sons and other family close by. Her outside interests also include running, hiking, gardening, traveling, and exploring beautiful Upstate NY.
