Lauren DeCaporale-Ryan, PhD, is a clinical psychologist specializing in geriatrics and medical family therapy. She received a PhD in 2011 from the University of Missouri – St. Louis in clinical psychology with a formal specialty in geropsychology, and did her internship at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System. She went on to complete her fellowship in primary care family psychology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry, Institute for the Family; she served as chief fellow in her second year.

In her current role, Dr. DeCaporale-Ryan works in the Departments of Psychiatry, Medicine, and Surgery. She is the Associate Director of the University of Rochester Physician Communication Coaching Program and Associate Chief of Psychology. She also presently serves as Associate Director of the Integrated Care Family Psychology Fellowship, and Associate Program Director of Resident Wellness in General Surgery. She is Assistant Editor for Families, Systems, and Health, a peer-reviewed journal focused on integrated care. Her clinical practice is focused on serving aging individuals, those with chronic medical illness, and their families.
