Anna Bailey, PhD, is a Senior Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center and a licensed clinical psychologist. She is a faculty member in the Center for the Study and Prevention of Suicide and the Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from George Mason University and completed both her doctoral internship in Clinical Psychology and a NIMH T32 postdoctoral fellowship in Suicide Prevention Research in the Department of Psychiatry at URochester Medicine.

Dr. Bailey’s research centers on developing and testing brief interventions to prevent suicide attempts among adolescents and young adults with significant psychiatric concerns by simultaneously targeting biological and psychosocial (biopsychosocial) processes. Recent and current projects include (1) characterization of the biopsychosocial context of the lives of young people at clinical high-risk for psychosis, (2) early-stage development of an intervention to target physiological capacity for stress adaptation to reduce psychiatric crises, and (3) brief interventions for reducing suicide attempts.

Clinically, Dr. Bailey has trained across numerous behavioral health settings, including inpatient, outpatient, primary care, and specialty medical clinics. She draws from evidence-based approaches (primarily cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies) to support youth experiencing a range of concerns, with an emphasis on suicidal thoughts and behaviors, and currently provides consultation for the Strong Ties INTERCEPT Program.
