Dr. Gonen is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry. He serves as the Director of the Interventional Psychiatry Program within the Department of Psychiatry, where he oversees and administers advanced neuromodulation treatments, including Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). Dr. Gonen is a board-certified psychiatrist with specialized training and extensive experience in interventional psychiatry, focusing on innovative approaches to treatment-resistant mood disorders and other complex psychiatric conditions.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Gonen is actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, fellows and attendings. He has a strong commitment to advancing psychiatric education and fostering the development of future healthcare professionals. His academic interests include exploring the efficacy of neuromodulation techniques, improving clinical workflows, and optimizing patient outcomes in interventional psychiatry.
Dr. Gonen collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care and contribute to the department's mission of academic excellence and innovation.
