Doug Welsh, PsyD, is a licensed psychologist and Senior Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC). He specializes in treating patients with intersecting neurologic and psychiatric symptoms that impact quality of life. These conditions include functional neurological disorders and comorbid neurologic and psychiatric presentations.

At URMC, Dr. Welsh provides clinical services in the NeuroBehavioral Health Clinic, a behavioral health service embedded within the Department of Neurology. In addition to his clinical roles, he assists with providing education to interdisciplinary professionals and the broader community to reduce stigma associated with functional symptoms. He also volunteers for a local organization that aims to improve the well-being of individuals with neurological conditions.

Dr. Welsh's academic and clinical training reflect his commitment to a biopsychosocial approach. He received a PsyD in 2024 from Roberts Wesleyan University in Clinical and School Psychology, with a focus on health psychology and psychoeducational assessments. He also completed his pre-doctoral internship through the Rochester Psychology Internship Consortium at a community mental health clinic. Afterward, he completed his post-doctoral fellowship in Integrated Care Family Psychology with an emphasis on assessing and treating functional neurological disorders and other neurological conditions. Part of this training included completing a Post-Degree Certificate in Medical Family Therapy at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry, Institute for the Family. He served as chief fellow for the Psychology Training Program in his second year. He values the opportunity to partner with individuals as they navigate these challenging symptoms and work toward greater well-being.
