Maya Hatch is PM&R's first fulltime researcher here at the University of Rochester. Dr. Maya Hatch joined the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in July 2025. She comes to the University of Rochester via the Long Beach VA Medical Center and the University of California, Irvine. There she collaborated with biologists, health economists, and biostatisticians to investigate and develop functional outcome measures for upper extremity, balance, and postural trunk control conditions caused by spinal cord injury, neuromuscular, and neurological disorders. Dr. Hatch will continue her research here at URMC in these and other areas, as well as mentor other PM&R faculty, fellows, and residents.

Dr. Hatch studied at the University of California, Irvine, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and subsequently her Doctor of Biomedical Sciences degree. She then completed an Advanced Polytrauma postdoctoral fellowship at the Long Beach VA Medical Center.
