Research

Dr. Junqiang Zhao joined University of Rochester as an assistant professor in July 2025. His research expertise is implementation science and shared decision making. He approaches his work through a lens of behavioral science and complexity system approaches. His methodological expertise includes realist approaches, mixed methods, systematic reviews. His current research interests include cancer screening, prehabilitation and implementation science theories and methodologies.

Dr. Zhao holds a PhD in nursing at the University of Ottawa. He has over 75 academic publications, including in leading journals such as BMJ, The Lancet Psychiatry, The Lancet Regional Health-Western Pacific, BMJ Evidence-Based Medicine. Before he joined University of Rochester, he served as an implementation scientist at the Waypoint Research Insititute and an assistant professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health University of Toronto.
