Michele is the Co-Principal Investigator of the UR Medicine Recovery Center of Excellence. This is a federally funded program of the US Dept of Health & Human Services, Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) Rural Community Opioid Response Program (RCORP), that has been awarded $12.3M to disseminate evidence-based research that supports rural communities in reducing morbidity & mortality from substance use disorder, particularly synthetic opioid use.

Michele has led the development of the Ecosystem of Recovery, a community-wide change management approach to reducing morbidity & mortality from SUD by bringing about multi-faceted system-level change. The work of the center can be found at https://recoverycenterofexcellence.org
