Biography

Wojciech Zareba, MD, PhD, FACC, FESC is a Professor of Medicine (Cardiology), Cardiology Division, at University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, NY. Dr. Zareba is Principal Investigator or Co-PI on several NIH and corporate grants focused on cardiac arrhythmias, risk stratification of cardiac death, heart failure, testing therapies to decrease risk of cardiac arrhythmias, and on clinical usefulness and prognostic significance of ECG parameters in risk stratification and in drug safety. Studies with his role as PI or Co-PI include the International LQTS Registry, the North American ARVD Registry, MADIT trials, RAID trial, ARVC Flecainide trial, and several other studies. Dr. Zareba has received over $33 million in research funding including over $23 million form the NIH.

Dr. Zareba has authored or co-authored more than 600 publications in cardiology research with many of them focused on sudden death, risk stratification, QT prolongation, device therapy, heart failure, and ECG related cardiac safety biomarkers (he has over 29,000 citations with Hirsh index of 75). Dr. Zareba edited textbook on Noninvasive Electrocardiology in Clinical Practice. He wrote over 30 book chapters for numerous textbooks including the European Textbook of Cardiology and Electrophysiological Disorders of the Heart, for which he was one of the editors.

Dr. Zareba was President of (2005-2007) of the International Society for Holter and Noninvasive Electrocardiology (ISHNE) and President (2015-2017) of the International Society of Electrocardiology (ISE). In 2006, Dr. Zareba established Cardiology Journal for which he has served for 7 years as its Editor-in-Chief. Since 2012, he is Editor-in-Chief of the Annals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology as well as a member of the editorial boards of a number of other leading cardiology-related journals
