Professional Bio

John Cullen is the Director of Diversity and Inclusion for the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at the University of Rochester Medical Center, and Assistant Director of the Susan B. Anthony Center at the University of Rochester. He has extensive experience working with the both the Office of Faculty Development and Diversity and the Office for Inclusion and Culture Development, as well as 16 years conducting research ranging from basic science to patient populations in the Department of Surgery. John has a strong commitment to human rights, social justice, and diversity. He provides a voice for those who often are not empowered to speak on their own behalf due to stigma, shame, or fear of reprisal and has effectively negotiated policy change through cross-functional collaboration on their behalf.

His efforts have led to the establishment of transition-related health care benefits, and the delivery of workshops and statewide conferences, that address LGBT healthcare and disparities in the delivery of medical services.
