Laboratory Animal Resident at The Ohio State University,
Office of Research, University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR)

•ACLAM-recognized residency training program combined with Master's degree in Comparative and Veterinary Medicine
•Provide clinical care to a wide variety of laboratory species including mice, rats, guinea pigs,hamsters, cotton rats, rabbits, canines, ferrets, pigs, zebrafish, opossums, ponies, owl monkeys and livestock under the supervision of ACLAM-boarded veterinarians
•Train investigators to perform basic handling, techniques and tissue collection in rodents as well as surgical procedures including orthotopic lung tumor implantation, cecal ligation puncture,intracarotid injections, ovariectomy and castration in mice
• Perform rodent colony health management via live sentinel and exhaust plenum testing, environmental testing, surveillance and treatment of C. bovis and importation coordination
•Provide anesthesia and surgical support to the experimental surgery core for large animal models including dogs, pigs and rabbits
•Participate in regulatory oversight through semi-annual IACUC inspections, protocol review, monthly IACUC meetings, USDA inspections and AAALAC site visits
• Mentor veterinary student on summer research project entitled "Comparison of Facial Vein (FV) and Submental (SM) Blood Collection Success" to validate SM as an effective blood collection technique to implement for research staff
•Provide training and support for the Welfare and Wellness ASLAP Group canine enrichment program 2017 - 2020
