Dr. Denton earned a BA in Psychology from Hampton Univerity (2003) then completed her doctorate in School Psychology at St. John's University (2008). She worked as a Psychologist at New York/Columbia Presbyterian Hospital Department of Pediatric Psychiatry and then as a Research Associate in the Center for Behavioral and Cardiovascular Health at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) Department of Medicine, where she completed a Masters in Biostatistics-Clinical Research Methods (2013).

Dr. Ellen-ge Denton is a licensed psychologist, with postdoctoral training in pediatric psychology, public health, and clinical research methods. Her overall research aim is to build mental health capacity and develop suicide prevention in resource limited settings. Her publications highlight biopsychosocial factors related to negative affect, depression, and suicide risk among diverse people groups. She currently serves on the steering committee for the Youth Suicide Research Consortium and A-Sanctuary orphanage in Guyana, South America. Dr. Denton has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses. She has found mentoring City University students to doctoral programs most-rewarding.
