Dr. Michael Telias is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Neuroscience with a primary appointment at the Flaum Eye Institute and joint appointment at the Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience. He is also a member of the Center for Visual Science and the Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities Research Center.
Dr. Telias obtained his B.Sc. in Medical Sciences and M.Sc. in Medical Neurobiology from the Hadassah Medical School at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and his Ph.D. in Cell & Developmental Biology from the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, Israel. As a doctoral student, he pioneered the use of human stem cells in the study of cognitive impairment and autism (Fragile X Syndrome). As a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, he investigated the molecular and cellular mechanisms behind inner retinal remodeling in degenerative blinding diseases.
