Research projects in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong include:
- Studies evaluating clinical outcomes in pediatric cardiac surgical patients.
- Evaluation of transcatheter closure of PFO in recurrent stroke.
- Studies involving left ventricular mass and intima media thickness changes in childhood hypertension.
- Evaluation of vascular function in childhood hypertension and obesity.
- Evaluation of point-of-care testing for monitoring of anticoagulation.
Our newest faculty member, Jolanta Skalska, is working in the laboratory of Dr. Shey-Shing Sheu on the role of the mitochondria in calcium exchange as pertaining to catecholaminergic ventricular tachycardia. This work is in collaboration with Dr. Jose Jalife, Professor and Chair, Department of Pharmacology, Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY.
