Preparing for Your Clinic Appointment

What to Bring

  • Come with baby if you are latching!
  • Bring your pump and pump supplies, especially if you have any problems with milk expression or milk supply.
  • Bring baby’s food, if they take pumped milk or formula.

Watch Tongue Tie Video

If you are concerned about your latch or baby’s tongue tie, please watch our educational video on our Tongue Tie page to learn more.

Respect and Privacy

At our clinic, every family is valued and respected in their individuality.

  • Every staff member has committed to providing evidence-based and respectful care to our LGBTQI+ patients.
  • Breastfeeding can feel private, and is sometimes uncomfortable to do in front of others. We welcome you to bring a support person. We also offer chaperones for breast exams and breastfeeding as well on request.
  • Patients with larger bodies can feel uncomfortable in healthcare environments because of bias and over emphasis on weight loss. Our staff is trained and welcoming to patients of all body types.

Admitted Patients - Inpatient Appointment

If you have breastfeeding, chestfeeding, or lactation concerns while you or your child are in the hospital, Lactation Consultants are available to all adult and pediatric patients at Strong and Golisano Children's Hospital, every day of the year. If you need anything lactation-related while you or your child is admitted or has surgery, you can:

  • Ask your team to put in a consult for "lactation."
  • Ask your team to page a Lactation Consultant.
  • Patients can ask their lactation consultant or primary team to put in a consult to Breastfeeding Medicine. Common questions about inpatient consults
