Making Grant Proposals Stronger: A Q&A with Past Research Methods Forum Presenters

Two early stage investigators at URMC share their experiences presenting grant proposal ideas at the CTSI’s Research Methods Forum.  The Forum provides an opportunity to get feedback from a multidisciplinary group of peers, mentors, and potential collaborators to strengthen proposals. 

Funding Opportunity: Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program

The Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program prepares research teams to compete for federal funding in clinical and translational biomedical research. URMC is allowed to propose one primary and one secondary application. Interested parties should submit a brief one-page abstract by November 14. 

Combatting Native American Health Disparities by Engaging Communities

Shaela Maybee, B.S., health planner and grant coordinator for the Seneca Nation Health System, will visit URMC on November 18 to discuss how she used community health assessments to identify health disparities and unique needs of Seneca Nation communities. Under the ‘Good Health and Wellness in Indian Country’ grant she is working to develop policies and programs to promote community health.

Junior Women Research Faculty Group: Fostering Camaraderie and Career Development

The newly established Junior Women Research Faculty Group was created to promote community among women at early stages of their careers. The group holds seminars and skill building workshops every other month to foster career development. 

CDC Principal Deputy Director Visits URMC, Discusses State of U.S. Public Health

CDC Principal Deputy Director, Anne Schuchat, M.D., delivered the 6^th Annual Bernard Guyer Lectureship in Public Health at URMC on October 14. She discussed the imminent metamorphosis of public health in the U.S. and praised URMC for its role in public health advances of the past century.
