Eye Exams

For a Healthier View of Life

Eye ExamGetting a routine eye exam at the prescribed interval is as important as seeing your family doctor, eating healthy or exercising. The most common reason people visit the eye doctor is refractive error – the inability to see far away, close-up or blurry vision. Our well eye care doctors diagnose refractive error and treat it by prescribing contact lenses and glasses. But, we do much more.

Every exam we perform is a detailed look into your health. Your eyes are windows to your wellness and poor vision can be caused a lot more than your need for glasses. When you come to us, rest assured that you’re getting more than a prescription for corrective eye wear.

Our highly trained doctors conduct the most extensive exams available. This ensures that you don’t have the beginnings of eye diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration or other debilitating conditions. And, we strive to develop a lasting relationship with each patient and include members of their care team to address wellness education that goes beyond the eyes.

The following eye examination intervals are recommended by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and/or the American of Optometry:

Those at low risk for ophthalmic disorders:

Ages 6 to 40

Screen for visual acuity every 3 years.

Ages 40 to 65

Do a complete exam every 2 years. Schedule exam by ophthalmologist every 4 years to monitor for glaucoma and to provide optical correction for presbyopia.

Contact lens wearers

Screen every year

Those at high risk for ophthalmic disorders:

Including those aged over 65 years, past retinal detachment, past serious ocular trauma, persistent visual loss, diabetes, hypertension, sickle cell disease, family history of glaucoma, other inheritable ocular disease.

High Risk Patients

Screen every 2 years. Schedule exam by an ophthalmologist shortly after a high-risk factor has been identified.
